Advance Payment System (APS) for Mauritian Companies

The Advance Payment System (APS) requires larger Mauritian companies to pay corporate tax in quarterly instalments rather than a single lump sum at year-end. Done well, it smooths cash flow; done badly, it locks up working capital or triggers under-payment interest.

Who is caught

Companies with gross income exceeding MUR 10 million in the previous accounting year, and any company whose corporate tax liability exceeded MUR 12,000 in the previous year of assessment.

How the instalment is computed

Each instalment is based on either the previous year’s chargeable income or, more efficiently, on current-year estimated taxable income. Filing.mu will typically model both to minimise cash locked with MRA.
